Young Leaders Society

United Way’s Young Leaders Society is an international network of young professionals (from their early 20s to mid-40s) who share a passion for advancing community solutions, in their own backyard and around the world. Through unique networking events, hands-on volunteering opportunities and innovative leadership trainings, members leverage the power of United Way to connect, serve and grow—both personally and professionally.

As a Young Leaders Society member, you might mentor students at a nearby high school, join your city’s basketball team to teach kids about health and fitness or have lunch with some of the most influential business leaders in your area. Members expand their social and professional networks and enhance their skill sets by networking with others in their field and by helping plan United Way-sponsored volunteering and fundraising events.

Success Stories

The Young Leaders Society is built for young leaders, by young leaders. Your voice and actions help drive what we do and how we accomplish it. Here are just a few ways that today’s young professionals LIVE UNITED.

United Way of Central Maryland

Emerging Leaders United means many things in Central Maryland: community, role models, passion, change, and so much more. Hear how it impacts members' lives.

Each year, Baltimore's young leaders head to events like Wine in the Winter, in which 350 attendees celebrate Innovator Award winners with live music, wine, a photo booth, and a book drive, and the Young Professionals Conference, which brings speakers, workshops, and 300 young professionals together for networking and leadership training. More than these events, the group is changing the lives of young leaders and community members alike.

United Way Greater Twin Cities

See how the Emerging Leaders at United Way Greater Twin Cities Area are empowering and inspiring change in their community.

In the Twin Cities, early- to mid-career professionals regularly gather to share a "think and a drink" with CEOs, thought leaders and each other. The event is filled with speakers, volunteer activities and, of course, some tasty beer. This group is not just about having fun and making connections; they're making an impact, too. Past events included serving dinner to homeless adults and filling kits with essential dishwashing items for community members.

United Way of Central Carolinas

More than 3,000 community members have been touched through Young Leaders at United Way of Central Carolina's volunteer projects and community awareness events.

Charlotte's young leaders are meeting for networking happy hours, getting nonprofit board training, building wheelchair ramps, serving dinner at shelters, reading to kids and much more. The Young Leaders group helps brand new and longer-term community members plug in through events that fit their interests and time.

United Way of Greater Atlanta

At the College Football Hall of Fame, the Young Professional Leaders of United Way of Greater Atlanta learn how business and philanthropy are inextricably connected.

When Atlanta's Young Professional Leaders aren't hearing from the CEO of the College Football Hall of Fame, they're raising awareness of human trafficking through a black tie brunch, discussing how to live a life of purpose, creating toiletry care packages, and much more.
